Deep Tissue Massage focuses on relieving tension in the deeper layers of muscle in the body.
Deep Tissue Massage uses prolonged, direct, intense pressure as a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motion stress and past, lingering injuries.
Unlike classic massage therapy, which is used for relaxation, deep tissue massage usually focuses on a specific problem, such as:
- Chronic pain
- Muscle tension or spasm
- Repetitive strain injury
- Limited mobility
- Body stress due to injury
- Osteoarthritis pain
- Fibromyalgia
- Posture challenges
Soreness is very common after a deep tissue massage. It's important to drink plenty of water after a deep tissue massage in order to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that are released during the session.
